Ballyhoo at the Blackrock Center for the Arts

Ballyhoo:  noun
extravagant publicity or fuss
an interactive fiction computer game

The body of work in the exhibition alludes to the extravagant fuss and excitement (“Ballyhoo”) associated with the comics, games, and publicity of our growing-up years. Fictional in nature, visionary in feel, and consumerist in intent, these intoxicating elements of our youth guide us into adulthood, shaping how we view the world, interact with each other, and decide to live. The underlying premise is that we never really grow up, carrying our childhood games and fiction into our adult world.
